2016 Intense Spider 275c Pro

Intense Spider 275c Pro

After having a blast on the Intense Tracer, I was able to hitch a ride on the Intense Spider.

I was really impressed at how light and quick the 130 mm travel trail bike felt. It was the first time I was able to really FEEL the difference between a beefier all-mountain bike and this type of bike with less travel.

I enjoyed riding this bike more than the Tracer, but I don’t know if a shorter travel bike would hold up over time on trails like this with the amount of punishment I put it through.

2016 Santa Cruz Bronson CC X01

I rode the 2016 Santa Cruz Bronson CC X01 with Enve 60 wheels during a fantastic Santa Cruz demo day thanks to Bicycle Emporium in Auburn.

I normally ride a Yeti SB66 carbon and this bike felt like it was a notch above my Yeti – and the other demo bikes I’ve ridden recently.

I don’t know if it was the perfect combination of the carbon wheels, dropper post, tires, fork and shot, but DAMN it felt fine. The only thing I would change about this bike is the color. I’ve ridden a bland black bike for the past few years and I’m ready to get loud.

I rode the Foresthill Divide Loop, a fantastic trail system in Auburn. Here’s my ride on Strava.

2016 Yeti SB6 Carbon X01

I rode the Yeti SB6 Carbon X01 mountain bike during a demo day this weekend in Fairfax, California, put on by Big Swingin Cycles from San Francisco. I rode from the Marin Bicycle Museum up to Camp Tamarancho and had a fun time on this bike.

I have the Yeti SB66 carbon and it’s similar, but different. My bike has a 3×10 drivetrain, where this SB6 has a 1×11. My bike has 26″ wheels, this one has 27.5″ wheels.

The wide handlebars felt good but it would take a bit to get used to them getting oh so close to trees. SRAM brakes are different than what I’m used to but by the end of the ride I was feeling confident with them.

This is the best bike I’ve ever ridden, but isn’t that always the case with the latest and greatest gear?
